the new beginning

Dear fans, I appologize for being a bit absent in regards of the blog, I however have been working hard and producing lots of interesting work, proof of that will be shown shortly.
The new beginning as a title of this entry responds as a new understanding of the culture here in Barcelona. One of the big realizations I have had latelly is to comprehend the migration phenomeon here in Barcelona. For many of us, we are familiar in the United States with a large and complex fabric of ethnicities, we have many backgrounds living under the same roof, and while we still have frictions with all the different races, religious beliefs, we are somehow acustom to see "America" as the mother who embraces all of us, with a democracy that many would question, but still a democracy that hopefully will be more just, but a democracy that has kept us together.
Here in Barcelona and the Catalan region, things are different, the migration of different ethnicities is something that really has exploted on the last 30 years, and represents a very new issue, that explains the resistance of the traditional mind against this global culturalization, and the feeling of beeing unappreciated by all the "giris" who live here. "Giri" is a term used to identify any foreigner in the city.
So that and many other things that I will not have time to explain in this session, has shown me that is not just me, but many like me who experience Barcelona from the point of view of a stranger, a stranger who tries to ambrace the culture despite the natural resistance of something unfamiliar. I love Barcelona, I find it to be the cultural capital of europe, as many have mention, it is a world of thoughts and ideas that honestly blows your mind away.

Once upon a time a city was built between two rivers, the mountain and the ocean
This paradise was conquered by the almighty powers of Madrid
The city´s heart was stolen and the people cursed
Souless the city grew with glorious architecture but with no smile
One day the soul of the city will be found and the people will smile again.

Sorry to all my fans about the late entry of this blogin´, its been a bit hecticious and complexcated. Here is how it goes:
It seems to be that the people from catalunia are very conservative and not very welcoming to outsiders in general, they say that once you open the door of their hearts you gain a friend for life... the problem is that the key is really hard to find, no one knows where it is, I however keep on the look out so I can open some doors and meet some friends for life, I will keep you posted.
Southern Spain, however seems to have not such a policy, they seem happier, with no issues, and they are very welcoming to strangers like me or to any other turist. I did notice the difference and I am trying to organize my thoughts before I say any more in the matter.
As far as the architecture goes, I feel that southern Spain has so much to offer, the heritage of Islamic architecture vs. the christian architecture make the sites a stage for dwelling cat fight you would not believe. Looking at the mosque in Cordova was one of the most moving experiences, the inserted christian church within the original mosque impacted me in ways Im not sure I will recover. Please look it up.
That is it for now, I will make another entry soon about the clubing in southern spain, and other things like food, and fashion, until then stay put and please be patient with my blog of life.

Dear friends and family: I am so greatful to be here in Barcelona, so much life everywhere, despite the seldom smiles on my catalan fellow men (we are working on that and we are making progress). The rest is only good things, wonderful food, architecture you would not believe, and incredible sense of fashion everywhere.

I hope you can visit soon.
